Bus Driver
Qualifications:
High school diploma preferred.
Valid Mississippi driver’s license plus required commercial license.
Complete all required training classes required by State of Mississippi for this position.
Job Goal:
To provide safe and efficient transportation so that students may receive the benefits of the district’s curriculum and extracurricular programs.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Obeys all traffic laws.
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
- Routinely enforces all regulations against smoking or eating on the bus, and any other such regulations as may be enforce within the district, applying the effect of such enforcement to every student on the bus.
- Promptly reports undisciplined students to proper authority.
- Keeps assigned bus clean.
- Keeps to assigned schedules.
- Checks bus thoroughly prior to each operation for mechanical defects or other evidence of unsafe condition.
- Promptly notifies proper authority in case of mechanical defects or failure, or lateness.
- Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
- Transports only authorized persons (students, adults).
- Promptly reports all accidents and completes all required reports in a timely and efficient manner.
Terms of Employment:
Salary and work year are determined by the Board.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
