QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to operate cleaning machines such as buffers, scubbers, vacuums, and other job relate machinery and equipment
Ablity to perform without close supervision
Experience in custodial or jamitorial service
JOB GOAL:
To manintain the physical school plant and grounds in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use may be made of them at all times.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Keep building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas, neat and clean at all times.
2. Regulates heat, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to provide temperatures appropriate to the season and to ensure economical usage of fuel, water, and electricity.
3. Shovels, plows, and sands walk, driveways, parking area, and steps, as appropriate.
4. Check daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during hours of building occupancy.
5. Raises the U.S. flag at or before 8 a.m. on each school day, and lower it at or after 3:30 p.m.
6. Sweeps classrooms daily and dusts furniture.
7. Cleans corridors after each school day and during the day when conditions require it.
8. Scrubs, hoses down, and disinfects toilet floors daily, and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains daily.
9. Washes all windows on both inside and outside at least twice yearly, and more frequently when conditions demand it.
10. Keeps building and grounds free of rubbish.
11. Performs such yard keeping chores as grass cutting and tree trimming as necessary to maintain school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
12. Keeps all floors in a clean and attractive condition.
13. Cleans all chalkboards at least once a week and more often if individual conditions demand.
14. Makes minor building repairs.
15. Promptly reports major repairs needed to the head custodian.
16. Immediately reports to the principal any damage to school property.
17. Remains on school premises during school hours, and during non-school hours when the use of the building has been authorized and extended work hours have been approved.
18. Assumes responsbility for opening and closing the building each day and for determining, before leaving the premises, that all doors and windows are secured, all lights, except those left on for safety resons, are turned off.
19. Moves furniture and equipment with buildings as required for various activities and as directed by the principal.
20. Complies with all local ordinances for the storage and disposal of trash, rubbish, and waste.
21. Conducts periodic inspections and test all electrical installations in the school to ensure their safe condition.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year are determined by the Board.
