LPN will work under the direct supervision of an RN who is either physically present on the premises or available at all times to the LPN.

 

Qualifications:

A. Valid state license to practice in Mississippi as a current Licensed Practical Nurse.

B. Preferably at least (1) year experience.

C. Alternate or supplementary requirements as the Superintendent and Board of Trustees may deem necessary.

Job Goal:

To use knowledge of the field of health care to improve the quality of education for the students of the North Panola School District within the limitations of program assignments.

 

Performance Responsibilities:

1. Conducts school health services including tests for hearing and vision.

2. Consults with parents of students who are in need of medical and dental care.

3. Reports school health incidents and advice regarding health care to parents, school personnel, physicians, clinics, and other appropriate agencies.

4. Assumes responsibility when on-site and within the provisions of Board policy for giving first aid in accordance with established first aid procedures to a student or staff member who has suffered an injury or emergency illness.

5. Contact home of students referred by principals, offering guidance to parents in caring for the health needs of their children.

6. Advise administration on modification of the educational program to meet the health needs of students.

7. Prepares, submits, and report data concerning survey and screening data to appropriate entities concerning student health, safety, and well-being.

8. Maintains professional competence through staff development programs.

9. Recommends exclusion and readmission of students in connection with infectious and contagious diseases.

10. Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in helping solve health, behavior, personal/social, and learning problems.

11. Assist school personnel in establishing sanitary practices and conditions in schools.

12. Advises teachers on health matters, warning signs, and proper responses to discovered health needs of children.

13. Report all accidents, student injuries, and student illness immediately to the principal or his/her designee.

14. Cooperates with the administration with the planning and evaluation of school health services.

15. Work cooperatively with all district employees.

16. Work with the framework of the North Panola School District as set forth in the District organizational chart.

17. Abide by all policy set forth in the School Board Policy Manual, Mississippi Code, and the Mississippi Public School Accountability Standards.

18. Performs other duties and assignments as assigned by the Superintendent.
